The OC Adult Day Services Coalition  is dedicated to maintaining and improving the health and well-being of those in our care, both participants and caregivers. Members are committed to the highest standards of quality of care, to providing services to the community, and to the highest standards of professionalism.

Principle 1:  QUALITY OF CARE

Members will uphold the highest possible levels of quality care. (1) conformance to all stated standards by the Coalition (2) conformance to standards and requirements of regulatory authorities having jurisdiction over each member facility; and (3) commitment to ongoing professional development.

Principle 2:  PARTICIPANT RIGHTS

Members recognize and respect the rights, dignity, and individuality of all participants.  Members shall maintain confidentiality concerning participants except as otherwise required by law.  

Members and their staff are familiar with and will reported suspected cases of elder abuse and other reportable offenses against participants to the proper authorities, consistent with state law.

Principle 3:  PARTICIPANT SELECTION

Members will not refuse to accept participants or deny services bases on the participant’s race, creed, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation or national origin.    Members will not allow differences in culture and values to influence selection of participants, services and or relationship.

Principle 4:  APPROPRIATENESS OF CARE

Members will inform prospective participants of alternatives programs or services that appear suited to the needs of the participant, regardless of whether or not those services are offered by that Member.  Members will not actively propose to serve participants in excess of their needs.

Principle 5:  The REPRESENTATION OF CARE AND FEES

Members will make no representation to participants and/or their representatives in a manner that is false or misleading.

Members will fully disclose all charges for care, materials, and services prior to their provision.  Members will not pay rebates or referral fees, or engage in fee splitting.

Principle 6:  CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

Members will avoid actual, apparent or potential conflicts of interest with regard to their professional involvements and personal, financial or other interests.  In the event that an actual, apparent or potential conflict of interest exists, the Member will refrain from providing services or materials until full disclosure has been made, and the conflict waived by the participant or his/her representative.

Principle 7:  ACCOUNTABILITY OF MEMBERS

Members will maintain high standards of personal and professional conduct both within and outside the adult day services community.

Principle 8: PROTECTION OF THE PUBLIC

Members have a duty to report to appropriate regulatory authorities, fraud and abuse occurring within the adult day care industry, either known or reasonably suspected.

Principal 9: COLLABORATION AND  COOPERATION

Members commit to work together for the betterment of the industry and willingly assist members in executing the highest operational and programmatic standards.
